When it comes to synchronize computer networks there are several options to ensure each device is running the same. NTP (Network Time Protocol) is the preferred option when synchronization protocol but there are many ways in how to accept NTP time.

NTP daemon is installed on most windows operating systems and applications such as Windows Time is truly able to accept the source of UTC time (Coordinated Universal Time) from all over the internet.

UTC is the time when he was the source used by computer networks such as the remains loyal to Atomic Clocks. UTC, as the name he suggested, is also universal and are used for computer networks around the world as a source to synchronize as well.

However, Internet sources UTC recommended for each organization in which the safety and accuracy are concerned. Not only can move away from the host (internet time server) to the client (network computer) can never be measured accurately, causes a decrease in precision. Also, any source for the network must pass through firewall (usually via UDP port 123). And by leaving this port open, hackers and malicious users can take advantage and gain access to the system.

Dedicated Server in NTP is the best solution when they receive the time from the outside. There are two real NTP server, refer to the radio and GPS time server time server.

Use the radio when referring to the server broadcasting signal in areas such as the NPL (National Physical Laboratory in England) or IST (National Institute of Standards and Time). When these signals are accurate, correct and safe repairs they suffer often on the broadcast signal transmitter. Also that their time is a simple wave of local interference.

GPS, while on the other side when the server received directly from GPS satellites. This is easily guided by GPS time with NTP UTC (GPS time is UTC - 17 seconds, especially if no one is lame will leap seconds have been added.) If GPS signals are available everywhere in the world 24 hours a day, 365 days a week , there is no risk of losing the signal. One GPS dedicated server when you synchronize your computer network of hundreds, even thousands of machines in a few milliseconds of UTC time.
